First Visit and Exercise Clearance

Rossmoor residents are required to complete a Waiver of Liability and a PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) at their first visit to the fitness center.  The PAR-Q is a simple, 7 question self-assessment highlighting any medical conditions or physical inabilities an individual may need to speak to their physician about prior to starting an exercise program, and that the trainer may need to take into consideration during training. The PAR-Q helps reduce the risk of injury, illness, and accidents.  After completing the waiver and PAR-Q, residents are free to use the facility on their own.

Group Exercise Classes

Due to the popularity of Tice Creek Fitness Center complimentary group exercise classes, sign-ups are required. The sign-up process opens at 8:00am to sign up for the following week’s classes, ex; call Tuesday morning to sign up for the following Tuesday.  You can sign-up online via mindbody online or the tice creek fitness center app, in person or by phone. Spaces fill up quickly so be prepared to sign-up right at 8:00 o’clock. The online booking capacity is 70% of the spaces, meaning the other 30% is saved for walk ins and phone calls. The system will automatically put you on the waitlist if there are no longer any spaces available for online sign up. You are also welcome to stand by and see if some of the waitlist members do not show, however this will not guarantee a space in the class.

Fitness Orientations

New residents receive complementary “2 hours of orientation time” upon registering with the fitness center. These hours will expire upon completion of the 2 full hours of assessment/orientation (please review cancellation policies before scheduling appointment(s.) We encourage all new fitness center attendees to meet with a personal trainer to help familiarize yourself with what the center has to offer and to help tailor an exercise program to your personal needs. This “2 hours of orientation time can be broken down into two (2) 60 minute appointments (upon availability) or four (4) 30 minute appointments, or any combination of 30, 60 min appts.

The fitness center offers walk-in equipment orientations to all residents. It is recommended to help acclimate residents to feel more comfortable working out in the facility. These equipment orientations are led by our personal trainers and are provided multiple times per week varying from broad to specific, ie cables, strength machines. (check out our daily schedules for more details) Additionally, personal trainers have time scheduled to be available on the floor for questions, to help correct form and monitor safe practices throughout the fitness floor. Floor times listed under each trainer on the personal trainer tab.
